Pastor Christina Omideyi
Pastor Christina Omideyi has walked a remarkable journey of faith, obedience and trust in God. Her relationship with Christ began in 1977, when she came to faith from a Muslim background and committed her life wholeheartedly to following Jesus. Since then, her life and service have been shaped by unwavering faith, perseverance and a deep love for God’s people.
For nearly 30 years, Pastor Christina served within the Christ Apostolic Church alongside her late husband, Pastor Olusegun Omideyi. While their ministries were distinct, they were united in purpose and calling. Pastor Olusegun pastored with tenderness and deep commitment, caring for both the spiritual and practical needs of individuals and families. He was also an accomplished musician, serving as church organist and choir master, enriching worship through his musicianship.
During this season, Pastor Christina was not serving as a pastor, but supported her husband’s ministry with dedication and strength. She also carried her own calling, serving women and families, as well as asylum seekers and refugees, drawing on her professional legal expertise to offer advocacy, guidance and care to those navigating complex and vulnerable circumstances.
Pastor Christina was later appointed to lead a church plant in Redbridge, Essex, where she faithfully shepherded the congregation for several years. Following this season, she responded wholeheartedly to Pastor Olusegun’s growing sense of calling to begin a new church plant with a strong community focus. His vision was to establish a church rooted in outreach, communal worship and practical ministry, while creating accessible opportunities for those unfamiliar with church to engage with the gospel.
At every stage, Pastor Christina and her husband sought the Lord’s direction together, trusting Him to guide their steps. In God’s providence, they were led to the Salvation Army on West Green Road in Tottenham, where they were warmly received and offered a place to gather. On 9 June 2008, they went to collect the keys for the building. In a moment that would later take on profound significance, Pastor Olusegun insisted that Pastor Christina sign the lease, even though he was expected to do so himself. After much encouragement from him, she signed the lease and was handed the keys.
That same night, Pastor Olusegun passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.
In the midst of deep personal loss, Pastor Christina felt a clear and strong conviction that the Lord was calling her to continue the mission and vision that her husband had carried. Leaning fully on God’s strength and guidance, she stepped forward in faith. On 6 July 2008, Canaan Church held its first service.
Since that time, Pastor Christina has faithfully led the church, witnessing God’s provision, guidance and sustaining grace at every stage. Under her leadership, Canaan Church has grown in spiritual depth, discipleship and community impact. In 2025, the church relocated to Goff’s Oak, Hertfordshire, continuing its calling to serve, worship and reach people with the love of Christ.
Pastor Christina is a servant leader, known for her kindness, humility, resilience and positive spirit. She leads with faith and determination, trusting God’s purposes and caring deeply for the people she serves.
